From the mouth of my wife.....

Post by highway_star »

I was showing my wife the photos of Joey Vasco's 4004Cii/5 and she mentioned how the Translucent Red finish would make a nice compliment to my Translucent Blue 4004Cii.

Like I need any more reason to order one......

Hehe...nice to have supportive women. When I grabbed my FG Laredo recently-on impulse-my wife was a little chagrinned, as I had ben talkeing about a mapleglo...

Then she saw it, and was awed! Image And any time I mention even thinking of selling my 75 4001 she puts her foot down to squash that idea...

Gotta love her!

Lucky Guys!
All I get when I show my wife my V63 is "That's nice honey" as she doesn't even look up from whatever she's doing.
How am I going to get her to buy into the idea of a V68 when they're out?

Ha Ha, Kevin that's exactly what my wife does. She could care less. Actually she does like my $200 Rogue Beatle bass the best. She says she likes the looks of it, but I bet it's the costImage
What works best for me is the old "It's a great investment sweetie". Usually works most of the time.

"It's a great investment sweetie"

That's how I've been able to get some of my basses as of late. In fact, I used a line similar to that one day when I was at the local shop trying a Fullerton-era '62 Reissue Jazz Bass. I called her and said, "I'm getting ready to make an investment", to which she replied, "What kind of bass is it now?".

I used to restore old British sports cars for a hobby. When I would find one I really wanted (and already had 4 others at home) I would tell my wife "I found this great Harley Davidson..." nowing there is no way she would ever let a motorcycle at out house. When she would put her foot down on the Harley idea I casually bring up "...well there was also this MG that was really cute..." Being so gratefull that I wasn't pushing the motorcycle idea any further she would be much more agreeable to what I was interested in in the first place, the MG.

I haven't tried this with a bass yet...hmmm maybe tonight I should go look at some Harleys.

Well John, then you should be happy to know that I ordered a 4001C64 a few weeks ago and if I can find out more about the bridge pickup on the 4004Cii/5, I may consider ordering one.

LOL! Nice one John!

Got to say my girlfriend feels rather like Cole's wife....she even goes mad when I sell a bass to buy another. Heck, that's money I could be spending on something nice for the house! Image

Ron, you may have quite a wait for that five-stringer. I've pulled it off production for now to make some further changes to the design. (You'll note it's not on the 1 April 2005 price list.) This comes from having spent some time more recently with one in my studio and I think I can make it better.

John, if part of making the 4004cii/5 better is wider pickups, I'll be the first in line to order!
