I can understand the dealer's confusion. If you look at the 330 guitar schematic at the RIC site:

http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdf/330.pdf

(and, ignoring the black parts listed) there is only one R tailpiece listed (part # 0111, chrome). However, if you look at the 360 schematic:

http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdf/360.pdf

one finds listed both a six-string R tailpiece (part # 01111, chrome) and a twelve-string R tailpiece (part # 01118, chrome).

I also checked my spare tailpiece (six-string, six slots) against the one that goes on my 370/12RM MG; the latter has has twelve slots, so obviously there are two types, not one.

This is true, Gary, but you will occasionally find a black 12-string "R" tailpiece on a 6-string guitar, due to stock shortages I imagine.

Photo or serial number data is not our policy, except that the local distributor may have some warranty polcy requiring that.

What (and all) we require is the exchange of the old part, pretty much like the core exchange for a radiator or battery in your car.

Yeah, that's exactly how I got my gold TRC...
I sent Rickenbacker my old radiator.

LOL, Keith!

Thanks for that, JH.

I guess the dealer's just making sure their nether region is covered. I'm pretty sure Geoff's problem is not a warranty one. They were going to confirm availabilty and price yesterday but failed to deliver so when they do I'll check the requirements again.

Perhaps CMI have their own policy and that's fair enough.

Still working on this, Geoff. I've made another call to the dealer re: price and availabilty.

Will do, Geoff. They seem to be ducking and weaving a bit (not getting back to me with details, asking me if I'm a dealer, etc.). I'll pursue it further today.

The end result may be that you have to deal with them yourself. If that's the case I'll give you some details.

If I don't get any satisfaction I'll ring the bloody importer!!

OK, Geoff - here's the real deal!!

330/12 'R' tailpices are on order by CMI and will be arriving in Oz in 3 to 4 weeks. The cost will be $165.

I don't know for sure yet but we may have to provide them with the busted one as a changeover.

I suggest you get your camera out at the least and start taking some shots in preparation (assuming you still want to go through with this).

If you'd rather deal directly with them then I'll give you the details when I call you tonight.

Cheers!
