I handled that bass when Craig was at the Philly show, I thought that it'd be a hard sell for what he wanted...apparently not.
The '58 that Larry sold a while back on ebay for $4500 sounds like a deal now, lol...
Well, Craig got a nice bass. I wonder what's in store for it now if he's not doing the museum thing.....

Well, since I didn't win this bass I decided to spend as much of that money as I can. I have purchased a Sting Fender Precision bass. A 75 Fender Jazz, and a Hofner Deluxe. I still don't feel any better though.

Well, if you really DID buy a Sting, then it is a winner for sure. I sure do like Single Coil Precision Basses.

Gitch-Pang, Gitch-Pang- the RIC trademark
Thanks Jeffrey. I mentioned earlier that the confluence was too soon for me. I am going to be in Kentucky and Ohio in July. I should have planned better. When I tell people that I am visiting those states they can't figure out why until I mention the Louisville Sluger Museum and the Pro-Football and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame. I am looking forward to being back there. I'll be with you in spirit. I could send you a blank check. I can trust you... right?

David, I'm not sure what "DID" means. Unless you are asking whether it is an actual 50's model. In which case, it is not. I purchased the reissue. I also purchased the 59 Precision from the Custom shop. However, that was purchased a few weeks before this 57 bass was posted on ebay, so I didn't count it. I am also waiting on a 4003 Montezuma Brown from Mike Parks, but that was also purchased before. I do get crazy like this once in a while. It has been a few years.
By the way, very nice collection Dave. Thanks for the addresses to the photos.

All P basses are single coil basses, except for the new P deluxes which have one humbucker along with the two opposing single coil traditional P bass pickups. They don't hum because they are wound backwards from each other or something like that. I understand the principle but other people can explain it better than me.

the modern p-bass has 2 single coil pickups one is reverse wired and with reverse magnets wired in series ... this cancels hum and gives them a fat growl ... the jazz bass has 2 single coil pickups and the neck pickup is reverse wired and has reverse magnets ... but the jazz bass is wired parallel which gives it a different sound ... to get growl out of a jazz bass you need to back off the voulme of one of the pickups ...

Then we can help you spend some more of it.
