4001/4002 project on German Ebay

Post by heinpete »

Birdseye maple body, dot inlays, but no 4002, just a clone...

Jeeze, look at all those frets! 24! Most of the higher register unreachable (comfortably).

Believe it or not, I'm working on a deal to purchase this. If I do what I want, it probably won't look like a Rickenbacker when I'm done, nor will I try to pass it off as one.

We'll see. The guy is being pretty reasonable.

If there was a little more cutaway on the lower bout to access the upper registry I'd be interested too. That body defeats the object of 24 frets.
Still, this is something fret wise what RIC should be offering imo...

... it was taken off the ebay due to whatever reason???...
But here is the link to the seller, also selling other gear for the project. Just ask him for pics.

Scott,

Highlight the text, then all you have to do is hit control C on your keyboard which copies that text, then with the cursor flashing on the URL bar, hit Control V and it will paste the text there. No more tired fingers! Image

Or highlight text, right click (copy) left click in URL bar and right click (paste)

Not sure what's going on. He and I had agreed on a price, then I have not heard back. Could be a translation problem. That or he sold to someone else.

Perhaps he was served a writ courtesy of eBay/Dreilinden under the Verifizierte Rechteinhaber Programm and realized he really didn't want to commit an illegal act anymore.

...maybe somebody of the "land of freedom" got eBay a note to restrict his selling activities... (sorry guys so this projects has to stay in the "wild east Germany")

...for the same reasonss shouldn't any selling of such projects or even refinished or painted Ricks like that: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=7314809564&rd=1
be prohibited???

I didn't see the picture of the first one, Peter but my guess is that it was a copy of a Rickenbacker and the text probably contained the name 'Rickenbacker'.

The second one is the genuine article. I don't think that 'personalizing' a Rick infringes any intellectual property or trademark laws.

If you have a white Mercedes and paint it red, that is not illegal. Perhaps putting a few BMW badges on it and calling it a 'project' vehicle is.
