I'm wondering(bass version).............

I've posted this same topic over at the guitar forum, but wanted Ric bassists to consider it.

I'm wondering if Rickenbacker will ever make azureglo BURST available as an optional finish. In other words, a finish just like fireglo, only in azure. Would anyone else like to see a 4003 in this color?

I'm hoping John Hall will take a serious look into making this style of finish available at some point in the future.

Here is my point of view on this ....

All clear at some time turns honey color .There are UV inhibitors ,but they only slow the process.
Clear staying "Water White" just does NOT happen .

Maple has a honey tint to it already ...to get the blue to look blue , you must white out the wood .To do this , it need to be bleached some how .
Then the tints need to be such that they are color fast ....everything fades .

So what I am saying ... this sounds like a wonderful idea ... but Blue burst guitars change their color ... the dark blue changes to a greenish tint and the center yellows .
Early on you would get a Dark blue /aquamarine to green to yellow/honey ...is this what you want ?

case in point ....white basses from Rick ...what color are they now ?

You're right Mark, they do turn into something less than desirable. It almost reminds me of the mid-80's Les Pauls that were silverbursts than not are referred to as "pussbursts" not a pretty sight. But a factory shaded green like Peter has listed would be a nice touch this year.

Well...... DAMN!!! It SEEMED like a good idea. Perhaps some chemical genius out there will figure out a way to keep white Rics WHITE, and azureburst Rics AZUREBURST!
