Peter:

Correct, as usual. It makes little sense.

When referring to routing, we say 'ROWT' Paul.
Peter, we say paper 'ROOT', regardless of the deliverers direction or responsibility!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

This is getting very dense.

My '67 4005WB has a short pole toaster in the neck position and a long pole toaster in the bridge position.

No, no - it's 'wallered' as in 'all wallered out'.

There was a guy over at 'Fabgear', Jeff I think, that used to have a source for these short pole pieces. I'm not sure if he still does, he posts every once in a while.
I have heard it's a bad scene to try to cut down the magnets yourself. What would the difference in sound be with shorter magnets? I'd think it would just make it weaker.

And I don't know about the name - 'short pole toasters' - it's kind of close to 'short pole smokers' which doesn't sound so good. "So, are you guys some sort of pole toasters?"

Thanks Anthony. What makes language usage interesting is that only several miles away, someone in your own area uses a different pronunciation and meaning for the "same" word.

The magnets are very difficult to cut. An abrasive wheel in a high-speed die grinder needs to be used. This often has the effect of weakening the flux, which then requires that the magnets be re-magnetized...

Thanks Paul. This subject matter continues to have a certain attraction to it.
