Headstocks

Post by roadrunners »

Hey all

anyone know of a good luthier who could perhaps....as crazy as this may sound.....shave down the headstock to look more like the headstock style of the 60's ricks>?

What color is the guitar and where are you located?

Hey Paul, are you specializing in Mapleglo these days?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Peter, I can mix and match any color, and account for aging, yellowing, etc. Solid (non-transparent) colors like Jetglo, Turquoise, Midnight Blue, Azureglo, White, etc and Mapleglo are easier to match and blend than MB, Autumnglo, or Fireglo, but all are doable.

Ooohhh, Autumnglo. It sent my mind in a spin...a what if scenario. How about a complete re-fin, Paul?

Sure, Stan. Just get me a good color photo of the specific shade of Autumnglo, and we can take it from there...

I document refins and rubber stamp the control cavities, to avoid confusion with originals, BTW.

Now I've given myself a project. I will search it out...of course, Peter, has one of the finer looking Autumnglo's around IMHO

Out of all my Rics, I only have one with the modern large headstock. It is the only thing that I don't like about new Rics. When you put it in with my older/re-issue gtrs, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I would love to get the headstock shaved, but not sure that it would be too successful. Has anyone had it done?
