...is your favorite that includes the unmistakeable sound of a Rickenbacker guitar? And why?
For my choice, I'll have to hold aside any tunes featuring electric 12-strings (even though they would be my initial and most obvious choices) as they ALL seem unmistakably Rickesque to me...
(Although I must admit here that the very first thing I played when I first laid hands on my 360/12V64 was the opening chord to AHDN...!)
Anyway, I'll go with the song that features the guitar sound that most captivated me when I first heard the Beatles, the driving rhythm guitar on "I Want To Hold Your Hand". For years, I wondered how John achieved that unique tone, which was so effective in defining the big-beat rhythm of the early years of the band... It wasn't until I finally played our 325v59 that I fully realized it was the guitar itself that enabled him to generate that amazing sound.

One of my favorites still is "Any Time At All", particularly the pre-digital mono mix on the "Something New" lp issued by Capitol. It has "that" sound all over it. I think that the stereo mixes from both Parlophone and Capitol and now the digital mono mix as well feature the piano too out front in the mix. I like to play this one very loud.
For me it is the great 12 string work on "I Call Your Name" both during the Chorus and the outstanding instrumental.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

My #1 favorite Beatles song probably would be "Paperback Writer", though it's tough to pick a definitive favorite from so many good ones. And I realize "Paperback Writer" doesn't have any Rics in it. So, my fave Beatles song that DOES have Rics in it is "Ticket to Ride" though, again, it's very difficult to pick just one out of so many. AHDN is right up there with it's timeless opening chord and chimey ending fade.
But gimme a couple of days-- I'll come up with some others that I haven't thought of yet.......

I chime in with "I feel fine" because it was the first beatles lead that I learned and it was with my 360/6. I love the lead to Day Tripper (I use a gretsch to get that sound, although I read that GH did it with a strat). That being said, the churning rythm that John gets with a ric is almost more interesting because you have to listen hard to get it. My "favorite" beatles song has often a lot to do with their songs that I am playing at the time. For example, the "one after 909", "That Boy" or "some other guy" -another writer- can really mean alot too.
Well, I have to look at it before George got the 360/12 and after he got it....the unmistakable sound of John's '58 325 on 'I Saw Her Standing There'....My fave Beatles Rickenbacker 12 song---'If I Needed Someone', hands down.
My fave Beatles 4001S song--a split between 'With a Little Help From My Friends' and 'Penny Lane'.

When I first saw the movie Hard days night and seen George Play I should have known better. That
was it for me. I wanted that Guitar and I wanted to be a Beatle.I went into the Army in 64 and came out a bass player.John and Paul were my Idols. And still are today as musicans and trend setters. Nobody sings better together than. John Paul and George. No Band can match up to them as far as I can see all around. That first note in the lead that george plays in this song just goes right thru me.
