New Microsoft Ad w/ Pic from Ric Factory

Post by basse »

Anyone seen the new Microsoft ad running in magazines? It's a full page shot of the floor of the Rickenbacker factory (unless it's a mock up from a studio somewhere - do tell John!)...

So, is John Hall the guy upstairs in the office e-mailing the agent the endorsement contract (hey, I want one!!!) or the guy lovingly polishing the guitar behind the bench? Or someone else?

And, they've highlighted the Blue Bursts as "get new product to market in record time" too!

(Sorry, can't scan..., check virtually every mainstream consumer magazine that reaches the business crowd!)

Good on you Rickenbacker!!!!! Nothing like a little free advertising! Hey, I work in an ad agency... John you could use us - I definitely understand the Rick afficianado and I could talk quality to the dad buying for his kids!!!!!

I'll try and get it scanned at work tomorrow (but they're really anal about "non-business" use)!

Sorry, I'm in Canada and it's in the current issue of Macleans (our version or Time) -the one with Belinda Stronach on the cover (for those who don't know, she's our billionairess politician who managed to get elected based on lots of dough and a great PR team! {personal opinion of course})

Actally the ad is for IBM Express Middleware. It's been running in gearhead mags like Network World, Infoworld, Informationweek, and all those other weeklies I devour so carefully that I am probably misspelling the names.

That really is me although that's not a contract on the table there. And as Derek says, it's IBM rather than Microsoft.

It's funny actually. I told the IBM reps during the shoot I was embarassed that we had no IBM products and were surrounded by Microsoft goods. One of them said I was wrong and pointed out an old industrial IBM clock on the wall of the factory.

Did it say something about the Bluebursts getting out in record time? Image I'm waiting for mine...I just know I'm going to love it.

It was nice to see the ad in last week's MacLeans here in Canada. Are those all Ric employees or were any models used? My wife felt that the guy doing the hand polishing looked a little too good.

The lady in the foreground looks a little too good as well! They were all models and it was shot in our acoustic factory area rather than the electric guitar shop.

Are we talking about the same ad that ran in the WSJ back in March?
