Guys, I'm really impressed with the beautiful instruments displayed on this thread...but I'm questionning myself...Do you get them just for show or do you actually play them??? And if so, what's your secret to keep them in this mint state? My guitars are kept clean and polish, but I just can't help the scratches and nicks from playing with them... and believe me, I'm always careful with handling but just can't help knocking them somewhere unexpected.
So either you guys are lucky and I'm not or I leave my instruments in their case!!!

Dan. I do about 150-200 gigs a year & unfortunately, my gtrs do not keep in pristine condition. I have a really beat up 330 which still looks new in photos & from an audience perspective. When I get knocks on my 'players', even one as beautiful as my 1997FG shown earlier in this thread, then I don't mind so much, because I know they are going no-where.
I must confess to occasionaly thinking that it's a shame my 1997 has such gorgous wood on the front, as the gtr is going to be knocked about eventually. Another part of me is very happy that this gtr is being used as intended!

As they say, Peter, the first time is tragedy, the second is comedy (or maybe it's the other way 'round?). Having filled out many reams of NAFTA paperwork, I can speak with some authority on this.

It's not a Free Trade Agreement. It's a constipated way to impede free trade.

Tony, don't think I was saying this as a reproach, I think that you must keep your instruments in pristine shape; it's just that I'm not too lucky with mine!!!

Dan, it didn't even cross my mind. I thought you asked a very good question. I have bought some used Rics of some years in age & they have been totaly pristine. I have often wondered the same as you.

Tony, Dan - it's odd, my 1997SPC/VB must have a legion of guardian angels. I play it more than any other guitar and it stays close to mint. My 360V64 is not so fortunate. It meets the world head(stock) on.
