rath is correct. i have a verry low calcium diet, it's just that my kidneys don't flush the crystals out while they're small.
it's said that most people have them, but they pass with no feeling whatsoever, many of us aren't as lucky. the part of the country i am in is also nicknamed the kidney stone belt.

a lot of medical doctors believe that because some stones contain calcium that they are a result of too much calcium ... this is a logical conclusion ... but natural doctors and scientists believe that these stones are actually a result of a calcium deficency ...
The problem is calcium is a hard mineral for your body to absorb ... you need boron, magnesium, manganese, vitamin D, vitamin C, and other nutrients to properly absorb the calcium you take in your diet ...
most American's start developing a calcium deficency as early as 30 and by the time you are 50 you have a calcium deficency ... I also developed a lactose intolerance ... this is a simple lack of the enzyme that digests the lactose sugar in milk ... this is very common in adults ... I simply take a lactase enzyme with dairy ...
By the time I was 40 I had a calcium deficency ... it manifested itself with high blood pressure, muscle twitches, leg cramps, and arthritis ... but I found taking 3 to 4 times the RDA of calcium daily helps keep me healthy ... my blood pressure is normal and my arthritis is 90% better ...
I take a good coral calcium that contains other trace minerals so I can absorb and metabolize the calcium my body needs ... I have some relatives with the same health problems who also got better by taking the coral calcium ...
I hope I don't sound like a commercial ...
here's some more info ...

About 3 years ago my husband had a horrible bout with kidney stones--he found out he had them after he went to the hospital with horrible back pains and blood in his urine, and when he was X-rayed 3 of them were revealed, one of them over 6 mm in length. It was recommended that he have them blasted, but the idea of surgery was not appealing so he did some research on herbal remedies, and a friend who is really into herbal cures recommended the products of Dr. Richard Schulze (www.herbdoc.com)....
He took the recommended course of herbal treatments--which involved drinking some pretty nasty-tasting concoctions several times a day, and drinking lots of apple cider vinegar mixed with water. He just about gave up on the herbal stuff, though, when he went through a horrible bout of excruciating pain which sent him back to the hospital--he was all lined up for the surgery, in fact he was being prepped for the operation when he mentioned to his doctor that all of a sudden the pain felt different, like something strange was happening, and the doctor ordered another round of X-rays, and they found out that two of the three stones were completely gone, and the big one was in the process of passing--in fact, it was just an inch away from his bladder.
At that point the doctor wanted to go in and fish it out, but my husband's faith in herbal medicine was renewed, and he went home without the surgery and after a few more weeks of discomfort, he finally passed the stone (he didn't like the sound of what the doctor wanted to do to get that thing out--ugh!)....
Anyway, the herbs do work, but they do take a little time!

"Once I've held and played the best, baby, I won't settle for less!"
I suffered just 1 stone when I was about 21. It woke me up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. Felt like someone was stabbing me in the lower back. Luckily, no surgery was involved and I did pass it. Was actually a little disappointed once I saw how incredibly small it was. However, couldn't imagine how much more pain I would have been in if it was any bigger.
Time marches on!
