113 is nasty...worse I've ever experienced is low 100's F (about 41 C). Man oh man, no wonder folks were kicking the bucket!

...How about LAREDO Texas in August!!! (As you may or may not be aware, we'll hit 110 F on a regular basis in the late summer... nevermind the heat index!)

Texas in Summer? Nahhh, got enough heat here in Florida. All the humidity too.

But it's rare we go above 95, and rare that the heat index even approaches 110.

You guys are friggin tough! I'm sure you get the same 3 month stretch of intense heat without a break. I guess even worse than Tampa...

It got to 45-47°C when I was on work placement in Luxor, Egypt... about 113-115°F as Ilan says.

At night it was FREEZING cold though, amazing.

When I moved to Burlington Vt. in 1995 my first three days were -30° F. -35° C. I'll take 113°F any time.

Try Phoenix or Las Vegas in the summer, I spent the summer of '93 in Phoenix and it was 117 F for weeks on end!

...most of the people in Southern California think it's absolutely freezing if the temps dip below the low 50's F. My inlaws make more heat in their house in the winter than most people I know in the NYC area.

Joey, I am originally from Southern California and it IS freezing when it's under 70! It is also a HEATWAVE when it's over 80!!

Here is a Rick pic, from the show last week when we opened for Foghat. The Foghat bass player was indeed very good, a very hyperactive fingerstyle player who couldn't have been more different than my pick-and-sustain style. My playing suffered from the comparison, but my bass looked better! He was playing a mid-70s Jazz bass and he would dump about half a pound of talcum powder on his left hand between songs (and it was a fairly cool evening). Keep that powder away from my Rick!

As far as i remember he had funky wide legged stance with the bass in the middle of his body,but a fast finger picker.
