Nice 4003 on Ebay but....

This sentence bothers me.
"We do not have a return policy; we will assist you with claims for shipping damage, but the issue would be between you and the shipping company, which is why we buy insurance."

Thats BS. Its between the shipper and shipping company. I once sold a pristine '65 360/12 and FedEx broke the headstock off. I knew that it wasn;t the fault of the guy who I was shipping it to. It was between and the pinheads at FedEx. I was reimbursed 10 months later but that is another story.......

Sorry, i had to vent.

I had a similar issue once on a bass that arrived with a chip on the headstock. I was the one who had to go after UPS, for 2 MONTHS!! But it did get resolved. The buyer had nothing to do with it.

Got one just like it in the bedroom. Beautiful instrument in every way. But yes, the seller and the shipping company is responsible for damage, not the buyer. I wouldn't buy from this guy.

Lovely bass, not so often you see an FG with flame like that.

Real subtle, has a vintage vibe to it.

That price is absurd. I just checked price on a new 4003 Fireglow from a reputable net dealer and is is WAY lower than that! Plus, you can return it if it is damaged, etc. In fact, I got a quote on new lefty 4003 that was at that price.

Talking of a nice 4003 at a good price, did anyone here get this. I was tempted with that wood and that two piece neck...

... the two piece necks of the early 4003 was another attempt by Rick Co. to reinforce the neck for round wound strings. I liked it as this construction did the job, but these basses were of the quite heavy series...

... also the horns were stronger... ...may be even the body...
