Woody's talking about the old Vintage Nerd option, which came with a tube of Brylcreem and a plastic pocket protector, I think...

I switched from Brylcreem to Zymol back in '83, when I lost my hair and chromed my dome...

Perhaps Woody is referring to the 21 fret neck (Vintage Neck) being discontinued on the Model 330 and 360 guitars.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

If the neck is what we are talking about, then I can understand why Ric changed to 24 fret necks when they did, as it was at a time when guitarists were exploring the upper regions!
Discontinued? You can still buy the re-issues with 21 fret necks, so you could argue that they haven't been discontinued!

'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.
OK, back. Bobbo was right on, as usual. I guess I'm amazed John Hall had a senior moment. Anyhow, RIC did have a VN option, so that you could order a 330, 360 and maybe others, with a 21-fret neck. I have price lists with that option listed. I'm sure JW will recall; I guess I just wondered why it was dropped.
