It's from a v63 that's for sale.
The dealer doesn't know how it got there, or what caused it, but he said he's seen stains like this on other Ric's.
Hmm, I never have. Anyone else?

Hmm. Stains from the case plush? Test played by a guy in a sweaty purple shirt? Spilled port wine? Hey Oxyclean can get out that stain!!!

Where's the stain? It sorta looks like wood grain to me!

Yup, happened to me twice, once with a white ric and red shirt and once with a bass exactly like that with a black shirt. Both times were hot nights with brand new shirts. The manual warns about that BTW. You can't get that out either it sinks right in to the woods is not a surface stain.

I'm wondering if that will come out?
I doubt it.

No, the stains sink right into the wood, at least it's not on the front.

Hum, me thinks that is a sign. Maybe you should ask your boss for new moniters! He he

I wouldn't have seen it at home either, but a couple of weeks ago, I finally got myself a flat panel TFT monitor and now I see detail in pictures that I never saw before on any monitor.

I have a three year old Dell CRT monitor, it's very clear, just takes up too much room.

These are no stains of the surface or the finish!!! You will definitely see if you refinish this bass(which might not take place at all if you take good care of it).

I have had some Ricks that had badly worn MG finish and after stripping some of them had such dark stains in the wood. Even my new '95 4004Li has at one edge such a stain.

I assume that these stains might derive from some pests or parasites if the trees. An other possibility is some wet storage at soem time of the stock keeping of the initial wood. But it does not affect the wood constitution or the sound. It might even look interesting. Anyway it is a curiosity. Ask John Hall, he might have the correct answer.

That stain is purple Peter, I've done that myself, it goes right into the wood and you can't get it out, the only thing you can do is repaint it in a solid color.
