Sergio to the rescue !!

Post by thinneckrick »

I would just like to publicly thank Sergio Silva for sending me the 70's pickup for my 74 4001 . It lives once more thanks to him . The world needs more good people like Sergio . Thanks again my fellow Rickenbrother.

Hey, don't mention it. Besides, what's a pickup? Four steel rivets holding together two plastic plates enclosing a coil of copper wire sitting on top of a magnet. Nothing fancy, really, haha.
Thank you for your kind words.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

He also fixed my 72 screwtop high gain which is a pretty rare pickup and it sounds great now, it's a little weak but that's the way they were made.

Sergio is an angel, I tell ya all.

He not only fixes, he creates too, to upgrade the performance of the pickups. I have the privilege and pleasure of having 4 of Sergio's tone monsters on my '98 FG and '86 Shadow. They all have adjustable polepieces that allow me to get that perfect volume balance across the strings, according to my playing style. The treble PU he built for my Shadow has a mini toggle switch on the baseplate that switches in and out the .0047 mfd cap.

Here's one of the high gain toasters he built for my '98. Notice the 4 hex wrench adjustable polepieces.

Any fine product from GE! Great idea, although I have not found any of my RIC pickups to have a string balance issue, unlike that from many other makers.
