I'm a bit late coming to this thread, but...
Kent Armstrong has applied his 'brand' to a range of far-eastern made pickups that retail at low-mid prices. I'm pretty sure the one in that picture is one of these. The marketing blurb on these products claims that they are
'designed by Kent Armstrong', and to be honest, I have no reason to doubt this. I don't think Mr. A would allow his prestigious reputation to be screwed up by lending his name to anything he wasn't happy with, quality-wise. Furthermore, a couple of my fellow bass players have bought examples of these mass-produced KA products and have been very happy with their performance.

I'm actually quite interested in buying one of the Toaster types to try out in my 4003. They're only £40 in the UK, and IMHO, at that price it's an experiment worth trying!
