He used it when he came to Perth last year, there was paint coming off the back & the chrome on 1/2 the HS was gone but it really was his RM1999. I thought it sounded great. He used that fenderish thing once & the triple neck once. In contrast, I couldn't keep count of how many guitars Steve Howe used & how well drilled he & his roadie were.

Well, here are some recent pics of Squire with a Rick, but it's not THAT one (scroll down a little):

Geez, even HE seems to have a hard time getting a replacement truss rod cover!

I think so too, Jeff, and I think he definitely used it for at least one track of "The Fish", because that bass is a 21 fret, and there is one note that I could never reach on my 20 fret neck, but it comes very easy on the 21 fretter... Most of the pics I've seen of that bass seem to have come right around the time that Peter Banks left the band and was replaced by Steve Howe, so I wonder if it went to that little country cottage where they recorded "The Yes Album". I REALLY would place my bets on that bass being used on "Your's is no Disgrace", it just sounds, different from his RM1999... Anyone else want to weigh in on this?
"This is the big one, Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey!"
I was out of town for a bit and off line. Ask one Squire question at a time and I will answer them. First, Chris’s bass, though it has a very thin neck, is set up with higher action than normal. As far as the pick up’s being weak, it’s not true. The horseshoe was weak at one time. Chris told me the Rickenbacker factory recharged the magnets. He said the bass sounded awful for a few years until the overcharged magnets settled down. By the way, hey Jeff, the 67 is great. A tiny surprised by the amount of wear on the back.
