Rickenbacker 4003 bass pickups

i have a 1986 4003 shadow but sounds great but records a lttle noisy can this be fixed?what pickups would be in there? is there beter (hopefully rickenbacker)pickups that i could put in that are not as noisy?where would i get them?how much?

Ric basses are a bit noisy... I suggest trying a noise gate instead of changing the pu's.

what's all this stuff about toaster horshoe picups?are they better?quieter? expensive?

I think they're great! The toaster has a smooth and "harmonic" sound, the horseshoe (with the .0047 cap) is very trebly and growly. However I remember they're noisy as the Hi-Gain, but who cares when you're playing?

ha ha ,that will not happen it is my last bass I would sell it does sound great and looks awesome I was just curious I get bitched at when theres any noise sound but I did use a noise gate i had on a small effect thing I had it did help but I stopped using it because it was unrealiable ,guess i'll try it again just for recording I used different basses the songs I used the rickenbacker "shadow" came out the best.don't say it "OF COURSE"

So the horseshoe & toaster pickups are appreciably different from the pole-types? More "Squire-ific"? ;-) Is it worth swapping poles for the vintage types? (My dealer said it'd be about $200, maybe less.)

Dan, IMHO the answer is: YES. My 4003 now sounds like the 4001v63 (even better using the .0047 cap)...

know how much my rickenbacker 4003 shadow ,really good but not perfect condition cost?(pawn shop), any idea?

The average has been around $595-$750 depending on condition.

i paid $600 canadian(with case really good condition) i'm not sure the exchange $400us?
