Sérgio, I don't know if you are talking about the song 'Avenging Annie' but if you are, Andy Pratt from Boston wrote it and had the original hit and had a killer bass player on it, it was a huge FM hit here in the States around 1973 or so.
Today I had Mingus on the CD player, now have the Grand Funk 'Red' album on. Mel Schacter is a monster bass player, great sound especially on thes early albums. Also played bass on 96 Tears.

Chris, John, XM is great, and I listen to it myself quite a bit, but if it becomes too much of a success it will put people like me out of work. Guess I am contributing to my own demise. I'm ready to hang it up anyway.

Yeah, Bob, since '71...most of my work now is voice-over material for our group and voice tracking for one of our Classic Rock stations. Was fun once but just a job now and tolerating the cookie-cutter format(s) listeners are subjected to.

Yeah, I've actually switched over to listening to AM oldies stations lately, their playlist isn't as tight, at least the ones I listen to.
I always thought being a radio DJ would be a really cool job, but with my voice forget it, haha!
I belong to the National Radio Club, ever hear of it? It's an AM DX'ers club.

I've heard of DX'ers. I think some of them pop up on a web site called radio-info.com, but don't know a whole lot about them.

yes, I'm aware that 'Avenging Annie' was written by Andy Pratt. I've never listened to his version though.
As for Mel Schacher, yeah, he was truly great. I regret having sold my Grand Funk albums (original US pressings all) a few years back, you know? Mel's bass sound on 'Et Pluribus Funk' (the 'coin cover' album) was quite exciting. The '70s... Those were the years.

I love the xm stuff, but I also listen to this great new local station that plays oldies from 60's and 70's.....some obscure stuff from then , too.....

Seems that ALL of the local stations are owned by the same company and they play "musical stations" quite often, changing formats and swapping stations at an alarming rate.....that is what precipitated my change to xm.....

I just loaded Lifehouse's new CD in the car's player. The new bass player is very McCartneyesque. Lot's of Beatle influence and I'm impressed with the chord progressions. I forget the name of it, but it's the one with the three dudes on the cover.

Hey, Chris, personally I'd love to see the end of say ClearChannel, Infinity, ABC Cap and the rest...the end of commercial radio. That way I could tell my wife there are no more jobs in my field. A nice clean and verified exit for me.

Yeah, I've been listening to Indie Pop for the last ten years and I'm glad that former head bangin' bands are finally putting out some tasteful music. My daughter let me hear Lifehouse and I liked it the first time I heard it. That's a rarity in itself!
