>>>I currently have Lakland Joe Osborn Flats on my 4003 and they are great. Not too stiff like the fenders are (IMHO), supple, great "thud", even sound all around, and great feeling.

What gauge are you using?

The guages are .45 .65 .85 .106. Which is pretty close to the .45 - .105 set ricks come shipped with. The D and A strings on the rick set are different though.

So far I am loving these strings.

It is funny, but after playing flats, I just can't imagine playing roundwounds again!

I feel the same way toward regular guitars.

My 4003 Redneck and Tuxedo both have the extra screws in their tailpieces:

Thanks, John - I'm the same way, and not being able to use my normal 9050Ms has been bothering me for years! I'll give the Laklands a try...

I've used those one new Rics with no problems, both 4003's and V63's, I do prefer the Pyramids now though, better sound and a little more flexible.

Bob, are you comparing the fenders and the pyramids, or the laklands and the pyramids?

The Fenders and Pyramids, I've never tried the Laklands.
