Humbucker output??

Post by tom_caughlan »

I have a 330 and I traded the hi-gain bridge for a HB that I bought from "The Rickenbacker Page". The installation went well but the output was REALLY low compared to the high gains. I'm assuming I did something wrong even though I've installed pickups before and had a friend double check my work. Do I need to change the pots to 500k? What's the deal?

Apparently I have a damaged pickup. Luckily, Mike @ Rickenbacker page was very easy to work with and he's sending me a new pickup to install.
Does anybody have any comments about the output of the HB's? I'm curious about any output differences since I plan to keep my neck high-gain for the time being.

Tom, my possibly faulty memory is telling me that I heard a lower output on my 380L PZ's humbuckers compared to my 460's high-gains (using the same settings on my amp).

I will try to dig out the 380L PZ over the weekend and compare it again with the 460.
