Blueburst 660 Available

I guess what I meant was that technically, the 4004LK's are still in production, and up until a month and a half ago, so were the 380 Laguna's (unlike the 660TP, 381JK and 350SH models). It's all good, Paul. Hey, you haven't weighed in yet with your opinion of the 660 BBR. Do you like it?

I've been waiting so long for new BBR pictures, this is just what I needed

Ron: I think it's a gorgeous color,and if I didn't already own a 660, I would go for it. I, too, am struck by the difference in shading between the one back East and MCC's. I tend to prefer the newer one.

On close inspection of the photos posted above, I think that some of the difference is due to the lighting, but not a whole lot. I like the smoother transition and the ghost blue in the center of the burst better on the newer version.

And, of course, the gold guards set it off beautifully!

Ron is keeping me poor. Solely due to reading this thread last night I placed an order for a Blueburst 620 today! It'll pair up with my Mid Blue 620 at gigs. Man, I can't wait.

I have to say that the Chapin-Carpenter photos that have been on the site turned me off the b'burst in the past, as in my opinion there was too much of a clash between the dark blue edge and the pale centre. The 660 in Ron's photos looks great though, with a much more blended-looking transition from dark to pale.

I'm with Carl - I like the newer BBR, as shown in the photos of the 660 at Classic Axe.

After comparing the two different shading patterns, I too am more partial to the newer shading as shown in Ron's photos.

Keep in mind that 660's tend to be more "flamed" than the others, am I correct? Most of the 660's I have seen in FG or MG have a flame to them, whereas the other models typically do not. Agree ?

I agree Steve, the more flamey pieces of maple seem to be reserved for the 660's and the 381's.

Per the Rickenbacker site, the wood used for the 660 body is "Charactered Maple". The 620 body is not "charactered".

Mmmm. You know what would look good in Blueburst? A 4005.
