There is redeemless trash (ABBA, Shania Twain, most modern country) and then there is Trash, which can be an enjoyable experience, like "1910 Fruitgum Company" or "MmmBop" or "Kraft Dinner" or "Married...With Children" (the show that is, though come to think of it...).

Susan Dey/Laurie Partridge was my ideal woman for the longest time...okay, so I was six.

I always liked Tobacco Road by the Nashville teens.
In the States 16 tons (if it's the same tune, 16 tons and what do you get etc.) was a monster hit by Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Yes, it's the same song, but here, it was a hit as performed by the Platters. Still is presented in some stations' playlists, actually.
"Get a job", huh? I know the song with the same name performed by the Offspring, a pure 'rip-off' from "Ob-la-di, ob-la-da", you know. It's not the same tune, right?

Amazing to see 2 posts back to back, one mentioning the Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys (who I cut my guitar-playing teeth on) and another mentioning Tobacco Road (which I ALSO love, but as done by David Lee Roth / Steve Vai). Just goes to show that everything comes back around again...

How about the Edgar Winter's White Trash version of Tobacco Road? I think some of the guys in that band might have known more about the subject than the Nashville Teens...or Roth and Vai, for that matter...

Dane, no disrepect meant to Edgar, I am just a big fan of Vai as a guitarist. Very nice guy, too. I thought he had an interesting take on the song.

I love the Platters Sheena just never heard them do that song.
'Get a Job' is an old doo wop tune, I doubt very much Offspring would cover it, but if they did it would be completely different, there were four or five singers in that band, stuff like sha na na na that type of thing, Sha na na got their name from that song. Street corner singing.
