Yes it can Dan and you can certainly do this yourself.

BTW, I think the pads, though not authentic for Vintage Ricks, look much better than the rubber grommets. I guess it's my sensitive eyesight (smiley declined). Grommets are so hardware store and the pads don't look as much like an afterthought.

I'm sure every RIC manages to get a ding or scratch sometime in it's life unless it's put away forever only to be taken out infrequently.
