Possible '65 4001 lead
I was talking to Gary Dick of Gary's Classic Guitars at the Chicago Guitar show today and he says he has a '65 4001 he is preparing for sale. He says it is not perfect and the tuners have been replaced but it sounds very nice. If anyone wants an early shot at it, Gary's website is http://www.garysguitars.com/ He can be reached at [email protected] . I bought my '63 from Gary about 2 years ago and found him to be an honest dealer. I have invited him to post his pieces here for comments / reviews if he is not sure about something.

If your talking in terms of how many were made and how many exist, maybe 50-75 in 65 maybe less how many exist who knows Ive seen 2 deluxe models in the past ten years,Gary also has a 65 4000 they made less than 50 in 1965.Ive seen more 68s than any other 60s 4001 totaling all the 60s basses up there are in the mid to low hundreds left.
