Is The new 325C58 a faithfull reproduction ofJL's?

Or "As Close a you can get"?. I.m planning on buying in the near future a C58 for my tribute Beatle Band. I once owned a V59 before and later discovered that it wasn`t the "correct"one. I´m taking a second chance and going for the C58. What do you Think?

Nicolas: To my way of thinking, this is as faithful a reproduction as you are going to get of Lennon's instrument as it left the factory. Should you wish to have an exact replica of his instrument as it appeared after knob, bridge, Bigsby vibrato, refret and finish changes later on, then the answer is no.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Thanks Peter. What I meant actually was about the Wood, the Pickguard, Fingerboard etc. I´ve been reading the archives and found disagreements about for example, the fingerboard being oil or with a thin lacquer, Rosewood or Padauk?. Also the pickguard Is it the correct one or not as long as Lennon´s? Sorry, I´m a bit confused.

Nicolas,

I have 325c58 in MG. I immediately got rid of the Kauffman and put a Bigsby B-5. I'm not a purist because I've left the oven knobs on the guitar. Many folks want the Burns knobs, or Hofner teacups, or radio knobs.

I haven't turned into John Lennon or anything yet, but I love to play this baby. And it looks so close to any photos I've ever seen of Lennon's guitar. My hat's off to the whole "C Series design team." I think they hit a home run!

I think you will be very surprised by how light the guitar is. The alder is beautiful! I hope you are lucky enough to get to own one.

I have both the MG and the JG. I kept the MG as Lennon received it and converted the JG to as it was when he refinished it. IMO the converted model is an much easier instrument to play.

Cool. Nick, does your band have a web site?

I've had my 325C58 JG for about a year now. The very first thing I did was get a Bigsby B5 and dump the Kauffman. The second thing I did was replace the strings with .11 flats. Both helped the intonation quite a bit.

I'd left the bridge and stove knobs until recently -- I just received a bowtie bridge yesterday (thanks Mike Parks), and expecting some Burns knobs (thanks Tonewerks) Monday. I finally broke down and decided to go Lennon all the way.

It is a very fun guitar to play, a little quirky on the intonation though. I am a big guy with big hands so handling barre chords on the higher frets takes some getting used to.

The coolest thing is that it totally has that cutting sound that is so distinctive in songs like "I Saw Her Standing There".

My biggest problem now is I want the MG version too! My wife is not amused....
