Anyone here know of anyone who played stereo bass before him? Maybe he was the first one who really explored it's possibilities. If nothing else he was very innovative, definitely the most innovative Ric player ever. He was the first to get that sound. I know he didn't invent Ric-o-sound but probably was the first to use it on a bass on any consistent basis.
I don't know if he was the first but didn't he convert his bass before they were generally available in stereo? It was 1970 wasn't it that the first stereo basses were made? I know one thing, if he wasn't the first he certainly turned the bass world upside down when Yes first came out. No one had ever heard a bass sound like that before. I still remember the first time I heard Roundabout, it was in my 61 Chevy on it's AM radio.
