Post by sloop_john_b »

I'm a big user and abuser of Bigsby vibratos, i've got 'em on a few of my axes. Does anyone here have 'em on their Ricks? I'm considering having one put on my 330FG, just wanted to hear some other opinions and possibly see some pics.

Ah yes, I forgot that John's 325 had a Bigsby!

Yes, I bought the body of a (supposedly) '73 450 a couple of years ago. It was impossible to find the correct (and to be honest kind of flimsy) comb-type bridge assembly, so I installed a tune-o-matic and Bigsby. Very happy with it...it gives the guitar a little more "chunk" and heft to it.... Image

Outside of "looks a bit tight on there", I can only say that I should have re-qualified my statement. Remember, this originally came about in reference to a 340!

Rick solid bodies look terrific with the B5. But I can't imagine a 330, 340, 360, 370, or 381 with a Bigsby...

Paul: Please pick up the Fogerty Premonition DVD. Not only is a concert of a lifetime but it has a Rickenbacker with a Bigsby that you might like to see. I will leave it at that for now.

Here is a link to a nice Fireglo 370 VP that Mike Parks sold awhile back.

I wonder how that would work for rockabilly?

Wow. Those grew on me FAST!

Please consider my formerly well-considered opinion to be now ill-considered.

And, BTW, Melissa, that turquoise 325 is absolutely unequalled!

"Premonition" DVD????

I've mentioned this before (in great hope) - I can't get that for love or money over here!! Well........ not in PAL format, anyway. Anybody got a copy (and I don't mean "copy") that they'd like to dispose of?

Speaking of Bigsbys on Rickenbackers, does anyone here know anything about the Fireglo Capri that Mike Campbell plays in the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "PBS/Soundstage" concert? It has a Bigsby B5 mounted near the bridge but I can see a RIC trapeze tailpiece also. There are some still pictures of it from another show here:
