We had a staff talent show for our students a few weeks ago. Here's me with my '73 4001 playing "Smoke on the Water" with a bell choir made up of women from our admin offices. I'm not joking.

Smoke on the Water with a bell choir. You can take me now, Lord. I've seen everything.

No chance on that Paul...you have to finish your book first! Image

It is an odd thought, SOTW with a bell chior...but this world is pretty good at throwing stuff our ways that we'd NEVER think of in a MILLION years!

Years ago, a friend told me she heard "Aqualung" on Muzak in an elevator. And yet, the world continues to turn.

What I have to know is...Was this in some way inspired by Will Ferrell and Anna Gasteyer?

Posted by Ronn:

"my style is sort of a cross between John Entwistle and Peter Hook".

As the 80's progressed Peter Hooks bass got lower and lower and eventually he ended up playing in a sort of crouched position with his bass almost down to his knees....No exaggeration!

I'm not sure how low his bass is straddled these days, but if it's got any lower he must have some serious scuff marks on his toe caps....and maybe some shoe rash on the underside of his bass!

He used to play a Ric copy and he looked the coolest playing it....wonder if he ever owned a real Ric bass?

When my 4004LK arrives, I'll be sure to try it out with the bell choir.

No blood yet ! It did get some booze splashed on it (not by me but by a drunky in the 1st row) and I'm happy to see that it just beaded up on the oil finish and wiped right off. Even if it does suffer a stain that is beyond a "character mark" I'm confident that a light sanding and re-oil would take care of it. Blood may be an issue but I'll worry about that if/when it happens...

I hope that all of the LK's get some stage time. It (like all Rics) was certainly meant to be played and to be kept on display or in it's case would simply be a shame. With so few being made it is my duty to get mine as much exposure as possible Image.

Steve....if you use it with the bell choir be sure to crank the distortion to give it the true "Motorhead vibe". I hope you get it soon....
