I agree, there is no substitute for Curly. Of course, Moe and Larry still had to eat after Curly died so the act continued on in some form into the early 60's. Shemp came back for a while then they approached the guy that became Curly Joe. He had some contracts to honor so they moved on to Joe Besser for a short time. Later, when his obligations were done, Curly Joe joined the troup. Moe died around '75, I think and Larry a few years before. They were truly comedic geniuses.
