Gretsch Duojet and Filtertrons
Probably the reason George had two Gents was that in those days it was common for bands to have two identical guitars. The second one a back up for the first. So here was a young George with two identical guitars of the most expensive type in the world. He had indeed arrived. There is even a pic of him holding both beaming with pride.
Yes its funny that his later most favored guitars was simple sunburst Strats. He seemed to have come full circle.

His first Gent (with the "screw down" mutes) fell off the back of their van on the road for a show in Blackpool. A trucker flagged them down and said they had "just lost a banjo". When they went to find it, it was in pieces, presumably smashed by the truck. It was during late July - early August 1965. By then, that Gretsch was only used as a spare, as George liked the later-model Gent better, and anyway he was heavily into his Tennessean by then.

There are two different ones, for neck and bridge, and they are quite different in construction, too.

Why wait? Put one or two on something else you might have laying around.
Except a Rickenbacker, of course...
