Well, first of all, don't you have to fly to Hamburg? Image

Steve, going to Hamburg is the roundabout way to reach The Cavern, but that's the way the Beatles got there!

Is there some confusion here between the Cavern and the Kaiser Keller?

A quick Google yielded this:

Looks like you'd have a good chance, if you could first get your band over to Liverpool!

How do you get to the Cavern? Practice, practice, practice.

Paul... that link didn't work for me.

Or maybe the Rat Keller. "In English, a cellar of rats. Not a seller of rats, one who sells rats for a living, but literally, a cellar full of rats"

I would bet that the majority of people pay them to play not the other way around, just a guess though.

Ha!... thats a real switch. But you could just be right about that.... at least some of the lesser known bands might pay, or at least play for free.

Dang.... why did they have to go tear down the original Cavern! Pisses me off. I once visited the new one. It was great to get a feel of the layout (the tunnels, arches, low ceiling, and just how small the stage area actually was)... but it just wasn't the same as if it had been the original.

They tore down The Star Club in Hamburg also, I was on the street once after they had torn it down of course.

looks like it burned first.... too bad. Could it be that Paul McCartney and Pete Best snuck in there in 1979 and started the fire by burning a condom tacked to a wall? ..... just a theory but its POSSIBLE!

The Star Club remained the premier music venue in Hamburg until it closed in 1969. (It then became a sex club, and burned down a decade later.) An engraved stone now commemorates the Beatles and other acts that played the Star Club in its glory days.

A good friend of mine, Brady Harris, emailed me recently saying he was playing the Cavern, Liverpool on May, 28th.

I studio engineered an album for Brady back in the early 90's with his band The Solid Goldsteins.

Brady is like Paul Westerburg/Lennon in style.
