Dan, modding for your own use and modding for profit are two different issues entirely.

It is a free country. RIC is just trying to keep counterfeiting down and protect their rightful property.
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”

I fully understand that and thats why I would not violate the law and sell a home made one. I only want a gold one on my guitar that I bought and paid for.
If I had known that gold guards were and option I would have just ordered them to begin with.
I was told the only option was what color do you want for your Ric and there is only three standard ones and the color of the year. End of options

I would be happy to order one from Ric too and they could verify my purchase of my Ric easily.
If I could get the gold TRC I would then be happy to send in my old white one.
But if mine were lost in the mail or if it Ric should loose it somehow then I would be just SOL. Things do seem to get lost or damaged in the mail all of the time.
My guitar's case was damaged when I got it and Gary from Northcoast replaced it. Thanks goodness the guitar was not injured and that Gary is a great dealer.
