Ken, those Leslies come up as complete assemblies on eBay every so often. And there are some cool portable ones made for combo organs by Farfisa and Yamaha, which appear at fairly low prices. Just the thing for those Hendrix warbly underwater vocals.

I was given a Hammond a few months ago from my parents' lifelong friends. It was her mother's, who had passed away in recent years. Nobody in her family wanted it, so they offered it to me. It is in really nice condition and sounds excellent, like a typical Hammond organ.
The kids are having a ball playing it, and the lady is thrilled that her mother's Hammond is being played again.

If you really want something on ebay you have to moniter it right until it closes and also put in a reserve, I see that happen all the time right at the last minute. People put them on their watch list and go in and snipe right at the last second. Now they have esnipe which should be illegal, takes all the fun out of it.

Jeez, Bob, I didn't know that eBay was for fun.
I'm pretty careful about how I spend my disposable income and eSnipe adds up to convenience and value for me. What's the fun of staying up till 3 am and then losing? I have work to do and need the sleep more than I need the stress.
But there's still the work of picking the right auction and getting the eSnipe price correct.
Or maybe that stuff is the "fun" of eBay. I'll repeat, out of about 30 auctions now in which I bid using eSnipe, I've lost only one (missed high bid by $10 or so) and paid a bit too much in two others (less than +$20).
I've tapered off for awhile--it gets to be obsessive.

It's all good fun, Bob. It should probably be in 'The Others' topic, however. It's got me thinking, though. If I had something like that I'd go back to grade 1 lessons and start again (only ever got to grade 3 - in keyboards that is!)
I'd have a stab at some Santana stuff, too!!

I'm working on "In A Gadda Da Vida" and "Light My Fire" myself...I'd like to try "Green Onions", but you really gotta have those tonewheels for that sound.
Korg and Hammond (and who knows who else!) both make B3 simulators these days, and they're not cheap at $3.5K, although I've seen mint B3s for $15K. The simulators lose all the visual romance of those big ol' Jimmy Smith cabinets, pedals flailing. They're just wooden cases with a few drawbars and the usual complement of keys. About 3" high. You could put one on your lap. Now, I ask you, how much fun is THAT?
