I thought at first it may have been a 4000 guard from the 60's that's been routed for a bass p/up. I think Sergio's estimate is closer though.
Checking out the picture of the 4000 bass on 102 of Smith's book it looks quite similar, but the E bay guard looks just a little shorter at the area where the treble pick up meets it.
