It is the same one that was recently on Ebay.

I emailed and inquired about the price, and they are asking $10,500 for it and it's not even Fireglo !!!

I played Jeff Scott's 4005 (and all of the others) at the Columbus Confluence and was amazed by the sound and feel. They are not boomy (Hofner-like) or thumpy. I found Jeff's to have a clean and powerful sound more like a solid bass. I could have bought one new many times back in the 70's and 80's but I ignored them because I loved the 4001 so much.

Southworth isn't far from me Bethesda MD i believe,hes a big fender guy down there ,for that price i think i will save the gas.

Yes, that is my Ebay name, and I also recognized your Ebay tag.

I mostly do the “BIN” option now. The prices are out of control for semi rare Rics on open auctions.

Now that I know about this site, and the Ric Community, perhaps we can coordinate with the out of control bidding. I guess I don’t need every bass that comes up.

Dave, that sounds great! Not that I buy basses routinely but the idea of not bidding against friends from the board is cool!

Altho I'm sure there will be times when all rules are off, depending on the "deal" at hand!

Dave, you're right about eBay auctions getting out of control. Personally I can't believe that my '76 Autumn-Glo is currently sitting there with a $1,200.00 bid. Mind you, I'll take it - it's great for people selling!!!

I would have been happy with $950.00!

Welcome to the board Dave! I recognize your E-bay handle and always wondered if it was someone from this forum, (I think we've bid against each other on some Grover tuners in the past). There was a recent thread somewhere around here about bidding against fellow forum members - that should give you a feel for some of our opinions on that subject.
