Time Zones - Australia and New Zealand

I have been looking at maps of Australia and New Zealand. It seems that there may be 3 times zones in Australia and perhaps two in New Zealand. Could someone from Australia and New Zealand comment on this. I wouldn't want to call in the middle of the night with one of my Rickenbacker questions. Thanks.

There is 30 mins difference between Melbourne and Adelaide, About 3 hours difference Between Perth and Melbourne . Sydney was the same as Melbourne the last time I looked and then of course there is Queensland which doesnt do anything right
