What "glo" could this be??? Autumn? Walnut? Fire?

Neat color on this bass...This would be a good one to have again IMO...What does everyone think it may be???

I never remember what the official color name is

The distinction is one is satin (I think that is walnut)
The gloss is autumglo ......this could be wrong .

Autumn glo from the early 1960's is different yet .

And then depending on who and how it was sprayed ......

These were walnut in the booth ,,,,,the rest , sating or gloss did not matter to us .They were still walnut .

Tobacco Satin something-or-other?

My 1980 4001 is nearly identical to this one, but mine has black pickguard and trussrod cover.
I've been told "tobacco satin black" (when I first bought it) and I've been told "autumnglo." I just don't know what the heck it is.

I bought mine new in 1980 and traded it for a lesser instrument because I was young and stupid. I later spied the same (yes- exact, no doubt) instrument at a shop many years later and bought it back.

Whatever it is, mine is/was definitely a satin/flat type finish. It is not (and never was) gloss.

I just don't know what it is, but it sure is 'purdy and I'm fortunate to have it back.

If someone tells me how to do it, I will post a pic.

There have been various versions of Autumnglo through out the past 45 years. I recall John Hall saying that the best way to determine the difference between Autumnglo and Walnut used during the 70's was that Walnut had a high gloss shine to it where Autumnglo had a satin shine. The finishes them selves were so alike that only the shine was the key to determining which was which.
I may be incorrect on this, but that's what I remember.

Here is another example..With the red/orange lining in the case, it may be throwing it off a little. Sort of like the old Autumnglo, but probably Walnutglo.

I HEARD ONCE FROM A GUY ON EBAY THAT IT WAS ROOTBEERGLO. I DONT KNOW IF HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT BUT IT MIGHT HELP.
