Did anyone besides Lennon play a 325?

Post by octagon »

Have you ever seen any other famous artists use a 325,320 or 1996?

John Foggerty had a 325 w/ F-hole. I think it was modified. It had a Gibson humbucker in the treble position.

Mitch: I can recall several.

Susanna Hoffs 325V63 Bangles
Maurice Gibb 325 JG Bee Gees
Eric Carmen 325V63 JG Raspberries
Marie Frederiksson 325 Wht Roxette
Per Gessle 325 JG Roxette
Marty Wilson-Piper 325 Church
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Interestingly, Toots--still alive and touring--is better known as a harmonica player.

That's him on the soundtrack to "Midnight Cowboy" (1970). He's also the guy you can hear on the "Sesame Street" songs playing--you guessed it--harmonica.

I have a wonderful album that he recorded with one of Brasil's greatest female pop singers, the late Elis Regina. He's playing harmonica on that, too--1963.

He strated out on accordion, though, at age 3.

Did Toots play a 325? I've seen pics of him with a 450 and a 330F (it doesn't mean he didn't though). I just thought Lennon was enamored with the sound of Rickenbacker after hearing Toots on one and the only one Lennon could get his hands on was a 325.

Roger McGuinn had one but he gave it to his kids because he didn't like the 3/4 size.

The Susanna Hoffs model (pictured above) is a 350, not a 325. That's not to say that she didn't play a 325, though...

Paul, how about one of my favorite groups!
Los Indios Trabajaras doing "Maria Elena" this has to be one of the all time greatest South American Groups. I saw them back in the late 70's and I was blown away with their Harmonies.

Did they play 325's Dale?

They were aort of the "Gypsy Kings" of the Sixties. When Herb Alpert was cranking out faux Mexican schmaltz, the Trabajares were giving us the real thing.

John, I'm fairly certain that the Rick player in Squeeze would have been Chris Difford. I think I've seen him playing a Rick somewhere.

Toots also played harmonica on Billy Joel's "Leave A Tender Moment Alone". He's quite a player!

I never saw him with a 325 though, always with one of the older Combo models.
