TRIO !
Moderators: rickenbrother, ajish4
Saw Stanely Clarke at the Newport in Columbus in the early '90's, simply incredible.
Toward the end of the show a roadie set a long scale Alembic up out on the stage, then Stanley asked if their were any bass players in the crowd?, he picked about 6 of them out, then allowed them to come up on stage to jam with him.

"Knowledge is Power"
Stanley played his upright for most of the show, his solo spot was simply incredible, which gave him a huge standing ovation, and this was only 1/2 hour into the show.
On one tune, a suite that he wrote specifically for the trio, he played a Rick Turner Model 1 bass.
Stanley's amplification came courtesy of two SWR Super Redheads.
Jean Luc Ponty's solo spot absolutely blew everyone away!
