I was innocently watching Top Gear last night. To our friends across the pond this is an auto show with humorous and often irreverent presenters. Anyway they are doing a viewers vote for the best driving music written and on the short list was Golden Earring playing Radar Love from 1972. I remember this song well and even sort of remember the red bass used as I was just getting into playing bass at that time.

The short clip last night showed it was a very tasty 4001s from the 60’s in FG. Looked great with the horseshoe. I guess in ’72 they were about the same price as a shiny brand new 4001?

Next week they are featuring Steppenwolf playing Born To Be Wild, and if I am not mistaken didn’t their bassist use a 4005?

The fellow (in the house band), from “Late night with Conan O’Brien”, uses a Jetglo 4003 from time to time.
