“Drama Gear”
Speaking of the “YES” Drama line up;
Does anyone know what Squire played for that album?
I thought that Ric made a custom bass with a phase shifter built into it?
Or maybe not…….

It's an Electra that had effects units that fit into a hollow area in the back, two at a time. There were around six different effects to choose from. They put out the guitar version but it's my understanding that his is a prototype that never went into production. Of the two videos I have from that album he plays this bass on one and his Ric on the other. I've always thought his bass sounded great on that album.

I'd love to see those videos Ronn if you can link them somewhere...that's one of my favorite Yes albums and I love his tone on it. If it was an Electra, WOW. I always associated that tone with a Ric. He played the Ric in concert on that tour, if I recall correctly (Cobo Hall 1980)

Guys, I'll have to check my vid library and find the video. I'm pretty sure it's called "Yes Greatest Hits" and has two videos from Drama, TF, and I can't remember the other. TF has the Ric and the other one has the Electra. OK, I just remembered, the "other" one has the "yes yes" vocal break. Sorry, it's early.

I was a HUGE fan of Yes in 1980 (still am, to an extent), and studied it ever so carefully. Squire used the Ric on "Machine Messiah" and "Into the Lens", a Thunderbird on "Does it Really Happen?" and the Electra on "Tempus Fugit". "Into the Lens" and "Tempus Fugit" are on the video.
Trevor Horn played a fretless on "Run Through the Light" - probably the only time on a Yes album Squire does not play the bass part.
