Thanks Pat and Happy July 4th to those in the US.

I forgot aboot Canada day... sorry.... I'm such a hoser. Well happy Canada day then. It's the 2nd here now so I'll play some Rush in honor or yesterday. It'll be a beauty.

(I used to play Bob and Doug McKenzie for my friends in Buffalo, NY, and we put on a bad Canadian accent for aboot a year. ****** alot of people off. I can still get the stereotypical Canadian accent perfectly.)

Also

You Know You're a Canadian When...

You stand in "line-ups" at the movie, not lines.

You're not offended by the term "Homo Milk".

You understand the sentence, "Could you please pass me a serviette, I just spilled my poutine."

You eat chocolate bars instead of candy bars.

You drink pop, not soda.

You know what it means to be on pogey.

You know that a mickey and 2-4's mean "Party at the camp, eh!"

You can drink legally while still a teen.

You talk about the weather with strangers and friends alike.

You don't know or care about the fuss with Cuba, it's just a cheap place to travel with good cigars and no Americans.

When there is a social problem, you turn to your government to fix it instead of telling them to stay out of it.

You're not sure if the leader of your nation has EVER had sex and you really don't want to know if he has!

You get milk in bags as well as cartons and plastic jugs.

Pike is a type of fish, not some part of a highway.

You drive on a highway, not a freeway.

You know what a Robertson screwdriver is.

You have Canadian Tire money in your kitchen drawers.

You know that Thrills are something to chew and "taste like soap."

You know that Mounties "don't always look like that."

You dismiss all beers under 6% as "for children and the elderly."

You know that the Friendly Giant isn't a vegetable product line.

You know that Casey and Finnegan are not a Celtic musical group.

You participated in "Participaction."

You have an Inuit carving by your bedside with the rationale, "What's good enough protection for the Prime Minister is good enough for me."

You wonder why there isn't a 5 dollar coin yet.

Unlike any international assasin/terrorist/spy in the world, you don't possess a Canadian passport.

You use a red pen on your non-Canadian textbooks and fill in the missing 'u's from labor, honor, and color.

You know the French equivalents of "free", "prize", and "no sugar added", thanks to your extensive education in bilingual cereal packaging.

You are excited whenever an American television show mentions Canada.

You make a mental note to talk aboot it at work the next day.

You can do all the hand actions to Sharon, Lois and Bram's "Skin-a-ma-rinky-dinky-doo" opus.

You can eat more than one maple sugar candy without feeling nauseous.

You were mad when "The Beachcombers" were taken off the air.

You know what a toque is.

You have some memento of Doug and Bob.

You know Toronto is not a province.

You never miss "Coaches Corner."

Back bacon and Kraft Dinner are two of your favorites food groups.

I do know what a toque is (I beat my dad in scrabble with that word once... although I spelled it touque.) and I have a Canadian dictionary. Now I know what a rink rat and a muckamuck are! I also still drink pop... Take off!

No offence, eh? Image

Haha great post!
Some of them I didn't know myself...

The thing about the weather is quite true. I work for Camco in the national call center for all GE appliances, so we get calls from all sides of Canada, which you notice is quite big when a customer tells you good morning at 4PM! Anyways people always ask how the weather is here in New Brunswick...

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone and thank you Nate for the jokes-a lot of them are really good. There's only one thing I'd like to say-us Canadians don't have accents-it's you Yanks that do!

Hey I just noticed I've graduated from a Junior Member to an Intermediate Member-and it's Canada Day! Wow, could this day get any sweeter?

Ah, did you send me one Howard? That's very sweet. Unfortunately, I've been out most of the day so I probably missed the post.

I'm a Georgia native with something of a Canadian "fetish" if you will. I've only been to Toronto (twice) once to see my beloved Maple Leafs play in MAPLE LEAF GARDENS the year before they closed it.
I love Canadian beer, Don Cherry, Darcy Tucker, & Yorkville Amps.

Plus you folks have a national anthem that actually sounds majestic & inspiring!

Happy Canada Day to all my great white north brethren!

Chirs-thanks for the comment about our national anthem. The one nice thing about our anthem (compared to the US anthem) is that most Canucks can actually sing it. I'm a pretty good singer so I don't really have problems with the US national anthem. Don't get me wrong, I think the US anthem is a fine piece but I bet the majority of Yanks can't sing their own national anthem because of the range of notes (e.g. "land of the free").

Happy 4th to our American friends. My family used to have a cottage on the north shore of Lake Erie and there were a number of American cottage owners there. I have very fond memories of 4th of July parties. I always get a little nostalgic.

And Chris, why did you have to mention the Leafs? We're all trying very hard here to forget about hockey-it seems like an eternity since we've seen it!

Hey Bill,
Hopefully Bettman & Goodenow's pissing contest will be over soon & once again we can actually watch the most entertaining sport ever come this fall.

Dude, I lost the All Star Game last year!!!!!! Atlanta was supposed to host it & my drummer has season tickets to the Thrashers!

Keep your fingers crossed.

I heard from a friend of mine that hockey will be on this year. I don't really have any info, but that's what he said...

Happy 4th of July to the Americans here!
