Top Gear

Post by haw »

Anyone see it?

They had the video for "Radar Love" by some 70's Dutch band on as part of their Most Perfect Driving Song Comp. Anyway, the bassplayer had a rather cheeky looking FG RM1999 in the background, with the thumbrest.
I'm pretty sure it was anyway.

Sorry for those that don't watch UK telly, but you may know what I'm talking anyway.

I miss Top Gear, but low and behold, they've started to show it on DIscovery Channel over here, a breath of fresh air.

Last night's show was the Lotus vs The Apache Attack Chopper, and the 2CV being blown away by the exhaust from the Jumbo Jet ..... great stuff !!!

I saw that, I read this post before watching it so I paid attention to see it!

Great show, too bad it doesn't air anywhere's but in the UK (that's what I'm lead to believe.)

I voted for Get Back. It's got that driving beat that has you stepping the accelerator!
This one time I was going to be really late for class and I was way accross town. I popped in my cassette copy of the original Let It Be on vinyl (hooray for vinyl transfers). Anyways I got there in time Image

Wait till you see the one where they drive the saloon into a lampost at 50-sobering stufff.

Back to the band-who didd the song and has anyone seen the video for it. You have to see this bass-well tasty and I'm not usually a fan of fireglo.

Uh... Golden Earring?
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

A saloon in American English is an old fashioned word for a bar, I would imagine driving a bar into a lampost at 50 mph would sober up most of the patrons in a bar.

I know Golden Earing did the hit version in the states anyway.

What a great bass tone on that song! When I hear that song it makes me want to grab my bass and play along.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

Randy, sounds like that would be a good thread to start: " ...song[s that] ... make... me want to grab my bass and play along ...". I feel that way every time I here "Walk Away, Renee".

Anything on "Live at Leeds" for me.

I do like "Radar Love" though.

I think Rutherford was using his Shergold by the time Duke was released. Could be an old Rick, though. The Genesis tune that has the best "obvious" Rick sound IMO is "The Battle Of Epping Forest".
