Magical Mystery Tour Paint Job

Does anyone have a decent picture of Paul's bass after he painted it?
Please email a picture, or pictures.

Although his bass looked like that for probably a year and a half (approximately May 67 through Jan 69, if memory serves), he appeared with it only a couple of times. I don't think any 'proper' pictures were ever taken.

You can see it in the All You Need is Love broadcast, I Am the Walrus from the MMT movie, the Hello Goodbye promo video (shown above) and maybe the Lady Madonna sequence on the Anthology.

Anybody ever seen the back of it?

Here, sorry it's not that big. I'll try to get a bigger pic!

Lets be honest .... Paul or no Paul.... that is one ugly guitar paint job. I bet John said something like "Dont worry, Paul, we're going to get the person who did that to your bass".

Nick,
I'd like a hi res version of that photo if you have one. I have been trying to determine the shape of the HS surround and that pic is the only one I have seen that would clearly show it if only it were much larger! Image

Is that really Macca's bass? It seems too red when compared to the Hello Goodbye photo.

Photo colors and their web repros always vary.

Anyway, it looks like a bleeder to me.

The bass pictured above is a 4001V63 from the WITH website. They do custom work on Rics, very Beatle oriented. To be clear, it is not McCartney's bass.

That's hardly an "exact" replica, that one is a 4003!
