New/different McCartney tour

I was just listening to "Flaming Pie" and realized that there are so many good songs on that album/cd/whatever....I'd love to see a Paul McCartney tour where he plays some of the true jems that never made it, commercially. Obviously that will never happen but,his solo work, and with Wings there are so many songs that are GREAT that he won't play live because they weren't popular.

I'd LOVE to hear Mull of Kintyre, Uncle Albert, and so many others but he's going to play to the Beatles audience (which he should, I guess) but, there is so much great "OTHER" stuff he could play.

Just to re-iterate on this...as much as I love Paul, wouldn't it be great to hear an encore of "Spirit's of Ancient Egypt" and "Silly Love Songs" instead of "Hey Jude" and "The Long and Winding Road" or "Let It Be"...please, no disrespect intended...I LOVE those songs but it's too predictable. I'm so happy to hear him doing Helter Skelter and Drive My Car...perhaps I'm being a bit too harsh...

Well Scott I don't know how many people would agree that those songs were gems. In fact some people look at the whole of Wings as one long embarrassing stoned debacle, haha!

I'd love to hear 'This One' and 'My Brave Face' from Flowers In The Dirt.

But I'm also very glad that 'Drive My Car' and 'Get Back' have made it into his setlist recently. I'm hoping he'll play them on the 2005 US tour in the fall.

The only song of his that I'm a little tired of is 'Yesterday' but the others are all great... Over and over again

Bob, It's all subjective, I suppose. I really like a lot of his solo/Wings work. I'd pay to see him play solo/Wings material without playing a single Beatles song...I'm probably in the minority though. Oh well.

I think it would be great to see him open with Rock Show, that was a great intro song back in '76. Also, he just kicked arse singing & playing bass on on songs like Beware My Love, Letting Go, Call Me Back Again & Hi, Hi, Hi. All of those songs projected a tremendous energy that could work well into any of his potential song lists of today. A little variety might spice things up a bit you know. JMO

Yeah, I love My Brave Face, Put It There, Figure of Eight, This One, and all of those great songs.

I loved the lineup he had in '89... Great setlist and a great supporting band.

I remember one tune from that that I really like but can't remember the name, I think Costello sang the lead and McCartney played bass.
Alright I got one for you:

Which Steve Miller Band tune did Mccartney both play bass and drums on and sing back ups? It's a great tune too and you never hear it.

"My Dark Hour", Bob.

I'm sick of the all Beatle setlist. Sure, "Helter Skelter" and "She's Leaving Home" were cool, but I want more Wings and solo stuff.
Opening with "Rock Show" is needed. I miss "Figure of Eight", "Soily", and "Hi Hi HI".
He needs to do stuff from RAM. "Too Many People" and "Heart of the Country". "Long Haired Lady" seems like a concert sing along song. "Teddy Boy" would be great to have back. Here is a list of songs I would kill (not really) to hear in concert:

Alough I would love "Spirits of Ancient Egypt" and "Time to Hide" more than a few of the songs mentoned before, he has no one to sing lead. They were Denny's songs to me and Paul was backup.

"Rough Ride" is another great one!

Bob, there's one called "You Want Her To" that features Costello prominently... They trade vocals back and forth. There's also one called "Veronica" on Costello's album of the time, that Paul co-wrote. All great songs.

The EC era is about the time he reverted back to the Hof or at least began to consider it. I believe due to the encouragement of EC.

Given his vast catalog, McCartney can turn, IWS, 40 – 60% of his set list every time he comes around..

Now I’m thrilled that we have had so many chances to see him here in the states over the last 15 years or so – and if he decided to play the same 20 – 30 songs that would be OK, but there are so many good one sitting in a shoe box…

V&M/Rockshow is a great opener. I remember being 16 sitting in MSG in 76 and hearing the opening chords of V&M. Quite a memorable opener if I say so myself
