Jon that's a great question. I have to say that since I built this for myself as a guitar I play most of the time, with no intensions of advertising or selling Rickenbacker copies, I feel that I have a connection with Rickenbacker since I did work there many years ago, I believe that there is no problem. On the other hand, I think that if I were to put a Rick T.R. cover on it, that would be the wrong thing to do since it's not a true Rickenbacker even though it's built to 60's/70's specs by someone who worked there 30+ years ago. I think the name "Electro" may be public domain, not sure but I will check with my ex-employer, John Hall. The Electro name was used on the lower priced single pick up 400 series guitars in the 60's. They were still made to quality standards, but sold as a student/beginers instrument.

Hi Dale. I'm familier with bookmatching, and have done it before. I just wonder where you find the nice wood like that guitar has that is wide enough to do a whole guitar body? I can usually never find anything wider than about 5 inches, so you would have to use 3 for a body, which would look strange I would think!

Could not get pictures to upload! So I'll try this morning. Here are pictures of last night progress. Band sawing end of neck to the body and sanding the butt flush. Drilling the jack hole by hand with a Forstner bit. Putting a 1/4" bevel on the back body edge, finished bevel. Routing the control cavity with the overarm pin router, the template is attached the the back with Dbl. sided tape, finished route. Block sanding with 100/150/220 by hand using a bright light to show all scratches and flaws. Marking the top nut and sanding it to size on the edge sander. Fitting it to the neck/finger board with a small amount of white glue. Drilling for the pick up wire with a 12" long by 1/4" drill bit, then using a 3/8" Forstner bit to drill from the top into the wire channel.
