Ric Painting

Post by lowendbob »

I purchased a really cool guitar painting from this seller before, and I suggested she should do some Ric paintings and offer them for sale on EBay.
The last one she painted, I was outbidded. I gave her another idea about painting the Magical Mystery Tour bass, and it looks like she took me up on the idea.
Very nice lady, and I told her I would help give her some exposure to us RIC enthusiast.
So here it is.

The painting didn't turn out as I invisioned it. I guess I do not have an appreciation for abstact art. Anyway, I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by posting this. I just thought some members might be interested in her painting.
Cheers! Image

OK, is it just me or...does that painting look a lot like this picture of my bass? The way it's cropped, the "incorrect" use of teal instead of Paul's silver/grey, the swirly part of the teal was my idea and not copied from Paul's. Whadaya think?

Doh, Yea Ronn that's your bass. I think I may have sent her your picture to use instead of a pic of Paul's.
Hope you don't mind.

Here's the photo of the finished painting. I just bought it. This is kind of a mindf*ck, I read somewhere(probably here)that several years back Mr. Hall approached Paul about an official Ric 4001MMT special edition, and said Paul is very touchy about the paintjob he did on his Ric bass and didn't want it to be copied. Ok, so I copied it to a point, adding my own slight changes, now a complete stranger has unknowingly done a painting of MY bass, not Paul's! And now it's mine.

Bob, thanks for getting the ball rolling. I'm starved for decent images of Paul's MMT bass and now I have an original painting of MY bass, very cool. My wife and I are buying a house, we move in the end of this month, I know the first thing I'm hanging on the wall. Thanks again.
