Yes, it has 4003S features. But RIC had to start somewhere when thinking up the v63. If it were a 4003S that somebody put a bunch of bolt-on parts on after it left the factory, it would have an extra screw hole beneath the truss cover, an extra hole beneath the pickguard cover and extra holes beneath the treble pickup surround. A few months ago you said that there were no extra screw holes.
I think that it was part of the evolutionary process that led to the v63. That does fit the definition of the word "prototype" as it appears in my dictionary:
pro·to·type n.
1. An original type, form, or instance serving as a basis or standard for later stages.
2. An original, full-scale, and usually working model of a new product or new version of an existing product.
3. An early, typical example.
4. Biology. A form or species that serves as an original type or example.
